GOLD COATED SUBSTRATES / MIRRORS

We supply various types of gold-coated optical mirrors using BK7, B270, UVFS or D263 glass. Mirrors offer high infrared reflectivity for IR Laser Systems CO2, Er:YAG, or quantum cascade lasers (QCLs), with protective dielectric overcoat for extra durability.

Gold is the most efficient metallic reflective coating over the entire IR range. And a protective layer of SiO or MgF2 can be used to protect the gold coatings and to make the mirror easy to clean. Protected gold can be cleaned regularly using standard organic solvents. In addition, gold is chemically inert, thus it is well suited for harsh environments, such as DF and HF laser cavities.
Bare gold coated mirror has higher reflection. However, Bare gold layer is soft and easy to be scratched, and can only be cleaned by flow-washing with solvents, or by blowing the surface clean with a low pressure stream of dry air. Durability is greatly enhanced with a protective overcoat.
